Lapis, an orphan, finds that she can no longer stand the life she's been living. When she steps out of the orphanage and is greeted by the smell of fresh air,-as fresh as Brooklyn can get, anyway-everything changes for her. Now everything isn't so safe. Peridot has been living on the street for two years.
