In this AU, Merlin has stumbled through the centuries alone, clinging desperately to the hope that, one day, the Once and Future King will rise again, when Albion needs him most. Which is all very well and good, except Merlin has been through personal hells, each one worse than the last, so he begins to dread the catastrophe that will finally reunite them. This is Merlin's third time being blind. The previous two were self-inflicted, because of the disguises they offered. No one bothers an old blind man during the Salem Witch Trials. No one suspects a little girl with lopsided pigtails during wartime. People are so tied up with their own issues that the ill-meaning ignored him and the kind offered him very little. But this time was different. There was another war, there were too many things happening at once, and there was a bomb. Merlin woke up to a black screen. He hasn't bothered to change it back. What's the point in seeing if the world's still dark?

It's just an ordinary in Camelot…well as normal as things get around here. Arthur and Merlin are out on a hunting trip by themselves and all seems well…until they are ambushed by a group of Morgana's men. The duo are separated, Arthur just escaping, but Merlin being caught. They take him back to Morgana, where she proceeds to torture him by twisting his memories. Every happy moment, every sad moment, every moment ever spent between Arthur and Merlin is twisted in Merlin's mind, causing him to believe that Arthur wants him dead. Eager to see Arthur's reaction, she lets Merlin go, making it seem that he escaped. When a search patrol finds him stumbling, weak, in the Valley of the Fallen Kings they approach him delightedly, glad to see he's safe. But when they learn the truth will things ever be the same between Merlin and Arthur again, or will he fear Arthur forevermore?

While finishing a hunt, Sam and Dean save the life of a cheery but altogether mysterious young man. The Winchesters never could have predicted the chain of events set off afterwards. I mean, did *you* know that knights could time-travel? Neither did they! **Note!** This fanfiction draws on things already established as my own headcanon, but have not been explained anywhere else. "Arthur, stop- it's me, it's Percival-" Arthur's mind registered the voice and he dropped the knife, thankfully before he reached phase three. He bolted upright as Percival's hands fell off his shoulders, leaving him only able to guess where his knight was in the dark. "Percival- what're you doing here?" He flung off the covers and swung his feet over the edge, the panicked adrenaline slowly ebbing from his veins, leaving him with only a clear head. He reached for the scarlet shirt on the bedside table. Percival wouldn't have woken him unless it was important. "We weren't sure what else to do, Sire, it's Merlin." Important, indeed. Or, the five times Arthur and his knights try to help Merlin and the one time Merlin realizes he deserves help too.

In the History of Magic lesson, Professor Binns finds an old diary, belonging to the fifth founder of Hogwarts. He tells Professor Dumbledore, and the whole school learns the story of the founders.
