When a pack of raptors stumble upon a destroyed rex nest, they find that one egg survived the unfortunate incident. Despite the law forbidding them to do so, the Raptors keep the baby rex and name the juvenile Shard after a strange birthmark on his nose. But things turn for the worst when a group of mutated dinosaurs known as the Hypos finds out about Shard. Being strict defenders of the law, they vow to kill the rex. Upon hearing this news, the Raptors are forced to send Shard to his own kind. With the help of an adventurous Spinosaurus named Pine and a laid-back Gigantosaurus named Omar, Shard goes on a long and perilous journey to find his true home deep in the unforgiving land.
