"It's you and me against the world, Asp." His raspy voice whispered in my ear. Glass and metal splattered on the ground, but all I could do was lay there. "Aspen." He growled this time, commanding me to listen to him. I lifted my hand- my fingers running through his hair. Dirt and debris fell onto my face but I didn't care. "Go." I said. His face blanched. "GO!" I felt like I was being swallowed by darkness. And then I felt him release me. The haze retreated enough for me to see him crawl backwards, away from me. I only had enough in me to whisper one last time. One last time before being dragged down by the black weight in my head... - - Aspen Russoni is a seriously talented boxer. She works with her dad at the "Russo Boxing Club" where she has trained her whole life for something big without even knowing it. She has plans to go pro, with her boyfriend heading in the same direction. Until one match, one knockout, changes everything.

So this is an idea for a Trilogy I intend to write entirely if I ever become a published author, or end the series I am writing now! It takes place in the modern 'real' world, like Shadowhunters or Percy Jackson.

Hopefully someday I'll be a published author, but in the mean time I'll just write short stories and post em here. I was actually planning on writing something else as practice for a different scene in the novel I am focused on writing, but I had a pretty interesting dream that became this short story. I was looking through Pintrest for my novel and inspiration on her ice castle and that night I dreamed of a woman made from fire being forced in one of the castles. The dream then radically changed to the same woman in the ending of this short story. I decided to start writing and kind of ended up here with Fajra and Isolde!

But Kell's past is never far behind, and Laini's quest to become a different person begins to take her down the dark path of drink and drugs that Kell is trying to escape. Both Kell and Laini are trying to discover who they really are, but the further Laini continues down this dark road, the more she begins to turn into someone that she doesn't like. Kell may be the only person in the world who truly understands her, but as Laini spirals downwards, she may be going into a place where even Kell can't reach her.
