It is a common practice that when one Alpha challengers another, the defeated wolf can either be banished into exile from the pack lands or be put to death if he or she refuses to go. Braydon Winters father, couldn't bring himself to leave the lands where his mate was buried and so once the fight was lost - welcomed the chance to be returned to her side. When the old Alpha was defeated, his now orphaned son became burdened with the same decision to make; stay and die or run. He ran.
