When Team Natsu set out on a seemingly regular quest, they hardly expected the disastrous turn of events that followed. Happy was nowhere to be found, Lucy was reduced to a comatose state, Gray and Erza were injured, and Natsu was left with an overwhelming sense of guilt that he simply could not shake. With a fuzzy recollection of the events, and Erza refusing to tell him the details of what happened, Natsu started to isolate himself from everybody else. Blaming himself for not being strong enough to save those he cared about most, and beating in how he was nothing but a pathetic failure. His suppressed mental health finally got the better of him, and the eccentric joyful Natsu that everybody knew, slowly faded into nonexistence... WARNING! In the world of Fiore mages have been cast aside. Now the council of Equity works to hunt down the survivors of Amaranth, a city that once held mages before burning down. Natsu has been searching for his friends ever since the incident, and in his searches he comes across a strange blonde. Both are searching for the Keeper, and both decide to team up. Lucy has been on the run for the past month after her parents' death. Her memories are muddled, but she's determined to become a Celestial Mage. A year ago, Natsu took a solo mission and disappeared without a trace. Without their most enthusiastic member, Fairy Tail loses its spirit. It doesn't take long until the guild is little more than a shell. But one day, they find a lead that finally brings them to their long lost friend. But he's not the same. Natsu's clearly been through something, but no one knows what. A dark secret finally surfaces. And Natsu realizes that learning how to live isn't quite as easy as it seems.

A man, with a hooded cloak and a white scarf, and a flying blue cat were watching the nearby town from a hill on it's outskirts. Rain was pouring down on their heads. The man was watching with dull eyes under his hood, without any emotions, the town in front of him. His last mission didn't go well so he was in a really bad mood. Under his cloak you could see a red bandage on his right arm and some sprays of somebody's other blood, and some old scars. On top of everything it started to rain. He was forced to go to the nearest town to seek for shelter from the rain or the cat would catch a cold. Now he was staying in front of Magnolia. A town full with powerful mages. "This is Magnilolia, huh?" The man spoke. "So here is the place of that guild which is cousing me so much problems and work, and the old geezer is always complaining to me and the other. *sigh* It lookes like we don't have much choice." "Aye sir." The cat said while shivering. "But we can find some medicines to treat your injuries after you lost too much blood and you are too tired too heal them yourself." He said while pointing at the wound on his arm which was again bleeding. The hooded man quickly changed his bandages under his cloak and tightened them. " I'm fine. It's just a scratch." He said without looking at his partner." Let's go. And you know what to do when we go there." He started to walk along the muddy path and not long after his little fella followed him. ......... The guild door burst open letting cold wind and rain drops enter the guild hall. On the door step were standing two dark silhouettes. One big and one really small. "Who are you and what do you want?" The third master's voice exoed through the now quiet guild. ......

Natsu Dragneel: a bad boy with anger issues and an I don't care attitude. He hides more pain and loss than anyone can imagine. No one looks past his bad boy facade. No one gets close enough to notice the cuts on his arms, or the pain, sorrow, and lifelessness in his dull black eyes. Hiding all of his pain so well behind that cruel smirk and cold bitter laugh. They don't realize that a smile, even one as cruel as his can hide an ocean of sorrow and loneliness. They don't realize that in reality he's suffering and trying to hide it all. Will anyone ever find out about him and if they do will they be able to help him? Will he let them help him?, or will they be to late? Lucy Heartfillia: a good girl who is kind to everyone and gets perfect grades. She dresses up and is polite. She studies, works hard, and her family is rich. No one sees her when she gets home to her mansion, goes up to her room and cries because she is herself. A girl who thinks that she's fat and ugly. A girl who cries herself to sleep behind closed doors. Everyone thinks she has a perfect life. A dream family. All the money she could ever want. What they don't realize is that all she wants is to be loved for who she is not who she pretends to be. Will anyone ever see through her good grades, kindness, and laughter to the pain and self hate she hides? Will they see through those beautifully crafted lies? Will they see the suffering and desire to truly be seen for who she is and not what she pretends to be behind those warm brown eyes and that smile bright enough to light up an entire room?
