Fate Didn't Bring Us Together. I Did.
Nick doesn't like to be noticed. He is the quiet observer in the corner, the guy who blends into the background, barely speaking and rarely smiling. To the rest of the world, he is just an awkward guy who keeps to himself. Only his small circle of friends truly understand him..knowing exactly when his quiet jokes mean he is comfortable, even if he doesn't laugh along. He was content living in the shadows.
Until the rain started pouring, and magic walked past.
Through the sheet of gray rain, he saw him: pung. A complete stranger running through the storm, drenched, wearing a basketball jersey with the number 29. In a fraction of a second, Nick's entire world stopped. He was utterly dazzled.
Was it the line of Pong's muscles? The striking intensity in his eyes? Pong didn't even look his way as he ran past, completely unaware that he had just rewritten someone's destiny.
Nick turned to look back into the rain, his quiet heart pounding with a sudden, dangerous clarity: Who is that? I want to know him.
They didn't know each other. They had never spoken a single word. But Nick isn't the type to wait around for a coincidence. If destiny wasn't going to hand him the boy in the number 29 jersey, Nick would just have to build a destiny of his own.
"Fate didn't bring us together. I did."
