A scandal shook the Bouchard family when young Duke Lucas Bouchard was dumped by his unfaithful fiancee Elizabeth three weeks before their wedding. She left without a word and only her best friend, the town's gossiper Rosemary knew of her whereabouts. Pressured by Elizabeth's parents she revealed that Elizabeth had eloped with a local policeman Nathan, ruining herself and family, particularly her younger sister Julie's prospects to marry well.
In a desperate attempt to save their son's dignity and protect him from tongues lashing all around their little town, Duke and Duchess Martin and Helen Bouchard sent young Duke Lucas to his Uncle. A tiny bit of luck in this unfortunate situation would be that his old friend from University, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, was living in the neighbourhood.
Heartbroken and all alone the young Duke arrives in London where his Uncle and Aunt welcome him warmly. His cousin Gustave is determined to help his cousin survive the never ending flock of ladies eager to marry in high society. Anthony and Gustave help him to move in high society and avoid young ladies who were in search of a wedding ring.
And as he moved through the grand household of the Bridgerton family the young Duke heard a distinct murmur of female voice telling a story and children's laughter. Curious, he reached the ornamented double doors slightly ajar and carefully peeked inside the nursery.
And that was the first time he set eyes on Grace Bennett, Lady Danbury's protege and a nanny in the Bridgerton's household. She lost her parents at the tender age of five and was sent with her sister Lillian into the orphanage. After a year and half Lillian got adopted. Grace wasn't. Twelve years later, she is still trying to find her sister. Hence, she applied for a position of nanny in the Bridgertons household to earn money so she can continue her search.
And it was there that she met Lucas, a man from high society, a place she had no place in...
Or had she?
