I woke up to a brightness of light. It was blinding, and blocked my sight. I blinked my eyes a couple of times to adjust them to the brightness that flooded my view. Once I could see clearly, I felt myself laying on something soft. I moved my hands along the surface around me and realize in a instant that it was a bed. I sat up dizzy in the bed as I placed a hand on my aching head. I groaned, because it felt like my head was on fire. Why was my head hurting? I pushed the sudden thought back as I took a glance at my surroundings. I was in nearly lit room. The walls in the room were an ugly-old-looking brownish tan. The only thing in the room was a couch and an old box TV. Where the hell am I? I thought to myself. But in an instant the memories with James flooded her mind. I jumped off the bed as fast as I could. In the process I tumbled to the ground. My breathing started increasing as more memories flashes before my eyes. This couldn't be happening. This is not real! Before I could think things through, I did the first thing that came to mind. I ran around the room, looking for an exit. I ran up the stairs of the small room. I placed my hand on the door knob, but the door was locked. Instead I banged on the door. ______________ A Twenty-eight year old police woman known as Lauren Johnson moves to a new town known as Kensington drive. I don't remember much after I blacked out, my head was throbbing. I tried to move my hands to wipe what I think is blood dripping down my forehead, but my hands are tied behind the chair. It was dark, pitch black. "Somebody help!" I shout. I heard movement from the corner of the room. "Shh, don't scream," someone whispers. I shot my head in the direction the voice came from. I can hear footsteps coming towards me. I can't make out who it is in the darkness. All of a sudden, I feel my hands being placed on mine. My heart started beating faster than ever. The grip on my arms tightened, as I let out a little scream. Inches away from my face, I feel their hot breath against my skin "You're finally all mine," the voice says. Matthias is a struggling writer finally able to move into his first solo apartment. He's thrilled to have a place free of roommates and siblings, even though the building is decrepit and is inhabited by an odd assortment of people including an intrusive neighbor, a little girl who wanders freely, and an overweight orange cat named Cheese. As Matthias settles in things begin getting stranger. Something vile is growing in the dark and it's coming from somewhere on the second floor... where Matthias happens to live. Author's note: this is me trying to get back to my roots: a character driven novella with horror elements. The story of people struggling against an inscrutable enemy, as well as the day to day trials of being poor in America. I have no idea how often I'll update or even exactly how this will all go down because y'girl is a panster. So strap in because this is the first draft and you all get to see it being born! Feel free to comment whatever comes to mind, and helpful critiques are always welcome.

THANK YOU, Wattpad, for the HQ Love Watty Award! Concept: A mysterious young woman flees from her troubled past only to discover it is impossible to escape THE SECRET that haunts her. *PLEASE NOTE: This story was originally inspired by the movie "Sleeping With the Enemy". * * * * * "I would never, Steven," she promised, turning away from him in an attempt to protect herself. "I know you wouldn't," he screamed. Cupping her chin in his hand, he forced her to look at him. "Because I would kill you." His words hung heavy in the air. Sarah's heart sank into her stomach. No matter how many times she'd heard the menacing phrase, she could never get used to it. It had the same affect on her as the first time he'd thrown the ugly words in her face. The familiar sting of bile rose in her throat, and she knew she would deplete the contents of her stomach once she was locked in the safety of their master bath. 'If I make it through this time,' she agonized. Her biggest fear was that one day he would really lose his temper with her. Who knew what would happen then? *This story is an unedited first draft. Top Ranks: Action #1, Mystery and Thriller #1 *This story contains scenes of abuse and may be disturbing to some readers. While the characters are fictional, domestic violence is a serious issue that many people across the world face. If you or someone you know is the victim of abuse, please seek help immediately.
