Cas, Dean, and Sam have been hunting together and splitting off to take smaller jobs. The story starts with the three of them on three separate hunts. Cas is human and wounded. He shows up at Dean's motel in need of help. What proceeds is the two of them meeting up with Sam and going on an involved hunt, over the course of which Dean and Cas slowly figure out their feelings for each other. Lots of awkwardness (in a good way), some mild angst, comfort, and eventually fluff and smut.

Jensen bristles visibly, straightening his back and squaring his shoulders. Looking so appalled that he maybe, possibly, almost kissed his best friend off set. "Fine," he says tersely. "You're right; this is...weird. I obviously need to get some sleep." The hope that bubbled up inside me congeals and sinks to a sour ache in the pit of my stomach. "Yeah, me too." I pinch the bridge of my nose, then force myself to flash him a toothy grin, cocky mask sliding expertly into place. "So thank goodness that didn't happen." "Right," he laughs breathlessly. A routine haunting lands Dean in a historic hotel with his brother, a flirtatious Cas look-a-like, and a grouchy Angel of the Lord masquerading as his husband. (A Stonehenge Apocalypse crossover.)

There's no time for nerves, no time for second guessing. There's only right now, and right now he has Cas. (Or, in which Dean and Cas get over themselves and take a roadtrip before Cas's grace runs out. Not S10 canon compliant.)

Castiel is still in purgatory and it's causing Dean to lose his mind; literally hallucinate. When Castiel returns, dean is alone and losing hope. Castiel’s return should be good news but when Castiel is revealed the truth about him and Dean’s relationship how will they deal with the situation? Does Dean have bigger problems? How will the news affect their everyday lives?

Despite Zeke’s threats, Dean doesn't tell Cas to leave the bunker. He revels in their burgeoning relationship, content to end his day with Cas asleep on his shoulder, even if they'll always sleep in separate rooms. Cas is it for him. But when Cas begins to experience physical urges he can't control, he asks Dean for a hand—metaphorically, and later, literally. Canon divergent after 9.03 "I'm No Angel."
