There’s a long stretch of silence as I stare at him. He looks around my age and certainly not threatening in the Marvel Comics shirt. “Hello darling,” The lad says in a voice I can’t quite describe. “Who the fuck are you?” I say, not-so-discreetly grabbing a knife from the counter. You can’t ever be too careful in New York. “Your guardian angel.” He says with a mischievous grin, completely unaffected by the sight of me holding a knife. If anything, he looks amused. “You think you’re very funny, don’t you? Arsecrown.” His green eyes match mine, his cheek bones becoming more prominent as he chewed the apple from my fridge, looking completely, annoyingly unfazed. In fact, he looks very charmed by my greeting. “Don’t you mean ‘Arseclown’?” The words roll of his tongue melodiously. “No, I mean arsecrown. The crown on top of the arsehat that covers the arsehole of the arseclown. The very peak in the hierarchy of asses," I say, as though I'm reading from a dictionary of modern profanity. "I guess you nailed me then.” * * * * Author's Note: With the exception of Chapter 1, this book is undergoing crucial editing. I would suggest you to wait with those chapters until the changes are made. P.s The "arsecrown" dialogue is taken from the first book of one of my absolute favorite series, ― The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer ― and spoken by my absolute favorite character ― Noah Shaw. I couldn't resist using it. All credit for those lines goes to the incredibly talented Michelle Hodkins. Hope you enjoy reading. All the Love, R. x

Voodootown by Bruce Elgin Under your bed, hidden in your walls, they come out when you sleep to defend you. They fight the battles you can't, make friends you thought you'd never have, and make your life better in ways you'll never know. But they aren't safe anymore. And without them, none of us are safe either. ***** When High School and life start to get even weirder than usual, Ash, Janey and their friends discover that not only do they have small, voodoo doll sized protectors that fight for them when they sleep, but these allies are under attack by a man with frightening powers. They watch as the mastermind turns people into mindless zombies by capturing their protectors. Soon, the humans and their guardians are working together and fighting for their lives and using every one of their own powers against a man who wants to turn them all into slaves. But will they be enough against a man with two armies and the powers of everyone that he captures? Book 1 of the Voodootown series Watty Award Winner! Book 1 of theVoodootown series Watty Winner!
