“Maya?” She glanced back over her shoulder, finding Drake standing in the doorway with other concerned werewolves behind him. They all had a connection with her. She was special to them all. “Maya, come inside please.” He said quietly. As her eyes gazed back at him, her body didn’t move. It was as if it couldn’t seem to respond. Maya felt so lifeless. Realizing she wasn’t going to move, Drake came forward and lifted her up into his arms. The heat from his body was warm to her, but still Maya felt cold. Everything was over. Her father left her. But that was a long time ago.

"Sir, please stop! What's happening? I didn't mean to do anything wrong!! Sir, please!" "Filthy rogue, I'm tired of your kind trekking in here like nothing's gonna happen. You'll learn!" The man yanked on my arm, throwing me on the filthy ground. I could feel the bruises forming on my hands and knees. I began to panic, tears began to fall faster than I realized. "I-I'm sorry! I really don't know what you're talking about. Believe me, I can leave," it seemed my begging was beginning to get through to him. The man hesitated, thought for a second, and then kicked me in the ribs, "Disgusting rat! You think I'm going to believe your load of bull?" He left, he actually left. After days of being left alone here I began to believe I was gonna be left here to starve. Then I heard footsteps. Faint, far, slow, but they were there. The steps got louder, until I heard a growl, feral and demanding. The steps became stomps, faster and growing in volume. A man burst in front of me, the world stopped turning.
