The age of the Roaring Twenties is marred by the outcome of the Civil War. The victory of the South marked the beginning of a new political regime: slavery is thriving, and the judge needs but one thing-the 'Slave Theory'-in order to deprive an innocent man of all rights of property, and to condemn him to penal servitude. John Laurens, a disgraced abolitionist and convicted criminal, finds himself in the very heart of a vast political conspiracy, while trying to unravel the dark mystery surrounding his newfound owner. - [LAMS] CHECK OUT KOTIK's ANIMATIC BASED ON THIS FIC! He was persuasive, suave; a man who stood his ground and could come off as, and was deemed as charming by outsiders. He stole you from your home- almost with ease, away from your family and those who you cared for. He was manipulative, harsh and cold at times, cool headed yet had his ways of making people bend to his every word. ° He was quick-witted, fast with words and seemingly on top of every situation thrown his way, he was dependable, possessive, and easily angered even if he didn't let you see it. ° He was calculated, calm, intimidating yet charming, someone who wouldn't let just anyone close yet was careful with those he did. He was precise with his words, always on point with his actions and never let the thing he deemed as important slip through his fingers for long. ° They all were intelligent, confident, strong willed and protective in vastly different and almost scary ways, broken- But in a way, I was too; broken. I was lonely despite their attention and at times false praise, and so desperately craving some sense of safety, comfort, and normality. And they knew how fragile I was, each yearning for and trying to keep a hold of their delicate, porcelain flower. It's had its fair share of struggles, rewrites - and I won't say I've lost interest in this story, but I will be honest and say that it has taken its toll; I've lost my drive to continue this book as it just seems like a hassle - for now - so I've decided to put it to the side so I can focus on other works. "A pleasure to meet you. I'm-" "Alexander Hamilton," I finish for him. "I know who you are." *** September 25, 2018, started out as an ordinary day. Eliza Schuyler went to school, took some notes, and went to a party (at the behest of her best friend). That is until she finds herself in the year 1778. Confused and disorientated, she meets Alexander Hamilton, and his friends and comrades, where she lays witness and becomes a participant to the events of the Revolutionary War. What she doesn't expect, though, is her growing feelings for Alexander Hamilton, the dashing Patriot officer and aide-de-camp of General Washington, and the feeling that perhaps she's been in 1778 before... **FIRST PLACE WINNER OF THE 2019 SUMMER AWARDS** ** FIRST PLACE WINNER OF THE 2019-2020 FREEDOM AWARDS**
