this is a story I wrote a while back based on what goes on in an abused child's home, the dollhouse as Melanie calls it. It's not cut into chapters, but does have stopping points. The party was quite nice. The school year had just started. But there was too much alcohol, too many problems, and a unfortunate accident that would kill 5 kids, leaving many in grief. Cheating happened, death happened, rape happened, and brought people closer to each other than they've ever been. People mourn every time they see the sunset, people can't bring themselves to get into an Uber. At the end of the day they're just young, and some will stay young forever. The before, during, and after of a tragic night you'd never would want to be trapped in.

For Curtis, it was supposed to be a decent trip. His dealer assured him that this new chem was safer than fentanyl and more mind-expanding than LSD or any other hallucinogen he could have gotten his hands on. This was a trip he wasn't ready for and one he's not sure he could ever get off of.
