A crowded Texas bar. Neon lights flicker, music pulses, and the scent of beer and leather hangs in the air. Eddie tips a cowboy hat onto Buck's head, their fingers brush, and suddenly the world narrows to just them. Their lips meet-teasing, urgent, and electric-messy in the best way, leaving both of them breathless, grinning, and dizzy with the thrill of something new. It's a kiss that lingers long after they part, a spark they can't ignore... even if life tries to pull them apart.

"Somethings wrong, Eddie. This isn't Buck," she whispered and Eddie closed his eyes, his hand tightening on his cup. "I know. But he won't talk to me, about anything. He hasn't even texted me a 2am random fact in weeks," he said and Hen made a small noise. "Hen, you knew Tommy before," he said slowly, Hen's shoulders tightening. "I did. And that's why Karen and I gave him the shovel talk at the award ceremony, I know what he's like," she said and Eddie finally looked up. ~~~~~~~ Buck hasn't been Buck in weeks. Hen and Eddie are worried, so they go to check on him.

"Why are you doing this, Buck?" Eddie demanded and Buck huffed irritated. "I'm protecting myself, okay? I want you to do what you need to do, Christopher needs you. So I'm removing myself from the picture so I can get used to it," he snapped, Eddie blinking surprised. "Buck, we would still be here for you," he said and Buck shook his head. "That's what Abby said, Eddie. That's what Maddie said. And every time, it was a lie. And I'm getting so fucking sick of the people I love leaving me. Because I'm not enough for anyone to want to stay. So leave, okay? Just- go," Buck snapped, looking away so Eddie wouldn't see him cry. ~~~~~~~ Eddie's moving to Texas. It's all that Buck can think about. But he's going to support his best friend, right? So he plasters a smile on and encourages him. Unfortunately Eddie knows Buck too well.

But who the hell was this new Alpha in his territory? His packs territory? "Who the hell is that?" Buck asked tersely and Bobby chuckled. "Eddie Diaz, new recruit. Snatched him up before anyone else could. Two tours in Afghanistan, silver star recipient, top of his class in the academy," he replied and Buck frowned, feeling a defensive hum under his skin. ~~~~~~~ Buck had searched his whole life for a pack who wanted him, Omega and everything. Turns out, the new Alpha smelling of war might be the answer to that.

Set after the events of 911 Season 6 Episode 9, Red Flag... Eddie makes his choice and pursues a relationship with Buck. This comes with the trials and tribulations of getting together, being in love, the lightning strike, Buck's recovery, the secret relationship reveal, parental drama, and Buck's past as a SEAL coming back to haunt the 118. I wrote a large chunk of this story during the winter hiatus. Started posting on the archive in February. All of this is already posted there. You may have already read this there. This story will be ongoing and will deal with some heavy themes. Trigger warning up front. They will deal with, but not tolerate homophobia, ableism, Bobby's AA, Buck's history of abuse, Maddie's is mentioned, Eddie's family drama. These triggers and others make an appearance... None are tolerated, and they overcome things as a team and a family. There will be drama, angst, violence, smut, cursing, etc... There will be some angst between the characters. No character bashing ... they actually will deal with their issues to move past them. There is some drama between Buck and Maddie very early ... and then Buck and Eddie against Bobby... Eddie and Bobby, Buck and Chim... These are done to actually deal with plots the show leaves hanging.

Buck and Eddie have been through so much together. But what will it take for them to finally cross the line and become more. An alternate take of the events after the lighting strike as Eddie struggles to keep it together, and Buck struggles to stay alive.

Buck opens his door to find a baby on his doorstep and has no idea what to do with it. Eddie is roped in to help and the two men help Buck get used to fatherhood. A month later and Buck has an accident, throwing his life into disarray as he loses his independence as a father. Once again, thank god for Eddie and his patience. Buck and Eddie are about to get married, but Buck's been feeling off lately. He goes to the doctor and it turns out that he's pregnant. He and Eddie are going to get married in two weeks and he's six weeks pregnant...he doesn't know what do to. If he should tell Eddie or not. Because he doesn't know if Eddie wants a baby or not. He's afraid Eddie's going to leave him if he tells him.
