Keith's life is incredibly mundane and mediocre, especially considering some people possess superhuman powers while he has none. He's content steering clear of anything to do with Voltron, the new team of super-vigilante prodigies that use their powers to fight crime in the city, but after a man being controlled by an ill-intending "villain" nearly kills Keith, claiming he possesses a dangerous artifact, things don't go as planned. After all, coming home to find a self-proclaimed superhero sitting on your window ledge saying that you are in imminent danger isn't something that happens every day. Lance's arms were around him quick, pulling him close and lifting him up. Keith saw Lance spin him around but he couldn't feel it. He was numb. He felt like he was watching it happen from someone else's point of view. He saw how deep Lance's eyes were and how wide his smile was. Keith ran his hands through Lance's hair, trying to capture this moment forever. He couldn't stop the laugh that bubbled out of him. He was so happy, and felt so warm and numb. The moment was surreal, just him and Lance. ... Keith and Lance have been "friends" since high school, but everyone sees them more as rivals.
