For this one year in ANHS, Ayanokouji is to train his social manipulation skills and work on creating an amicable and practical persona, both skills that will be critical towards acquiring the Presidency. Thus, a "kind" Ayanokouji arrives in ANHS. He may still be deadpan, unfeeling and monstrously skilled, but his methods will be "kind" - while his crueler machinations will never see the light of day. Just remember, the best lies are the ones people like to hear and want to believe.
