My entry for the Wattpad "Show Us Your Story" Contest. Excerpt is from my story The Call to Rise, specifically "Origins Part 2: Kai". Told in the form of a flashback, this scene captures the moment that changes Kai's life forever and puts him on the path to being the fire-wielding, revenge-seeking Red Ninja--one of Ninjago's four heroes. It's a cautionary tale of fear and lust and pride based on actual events where people died (No one died) ~~~~~~ Kai's turning eighteen and he's pretty excited about it. So naturally, the rest of his friends want to make it a birthday to remember. Thank goodness that the red ninja had an overactive imagination... Follow Kai on an epic birthday quest, where he shall encounter elves, giants, trolls, fairies, and so much more, all leading to an epic final battle against an evil prince. In other words, prepare for silliness, shenanigans, and a certain fairy boy not staying in character. :D

Sixteen year old Nya Smith suffers from stage IV cancer and metastasis which has spread to her lungs. When Nya's friend Lloyd brings seventeen year old Jason Walker to Nya's support group, everything turns around.

Kai was uneasy. But about what? He and Cole's Relationship was fine. Ninjago was safe. But he just kept hearing things he couldn't explain. Until a certain someone came back and everything went pitch black. Kai couldn't remember anything of what happened before, The ground was hot. Kai wasn't in Ninjago anymore... Inspired by a writing prompt I found on Pinterest. The prompt is, "Children who die at a young age are given a very special role in the afterlife; they become invisible friends, assigned to other children who need them back in the living realm." I was going to put this in my fanfiction ideas book, but I couldn't help it once I planned it out!

A road trip sounds like a fun, normal family-bonding activity, right? Wrong! With the Ninja, nothing is normal. It is quite the opposite. After defeating the Oni, our heroes thought that they deserved a long break. Seeing that they had only explored Ninjago when they were on the case of some crackhead villain, Lloyd thought it would be a good idea to go on a road trip.
