this is a rewrite of an old story of mine. it has the same title, and I decided I wanted a more detailed story line. my original was rushed, undetailed, and flawed.(Not saying this wont be oops) this is klance, but no smutt, this is a work safe story folks, but gore warning? *Just to clear up the confusion, lotor is not half altean in this au* lance is an altean, and keith is galra, altean, and human. his mother is galra and altean, while his father was human. lance is a special type of altean, almost artificial. he has the rarest power since it is completely unique. he was water, and lightning powers. alteans normally only have water, ice, OR earth powers due to their peaceful tendencies. (No fire or lightning etc.) But, they are apparent on EXTREMLY rare occasuons.He got them from allura, who used her power to save him from a deadly disease when he wasnt even born yet. Keith can't sleep. Ever since his older brother disappeared, he's had nightmares that keep him awake at night. It's been two years. As much as he tries to hide it, people started noticing the changes. So, after some advice, Keith writes all his troubles down in a letter sealed in a bottle. He throws it in the ocean, thinking that no one will ever find it. Lance is a merman living beneath the waves in the mer kingdom of Altea. All his life, his family had warned him to never go close to the shore, for fear of being seen; and all his life, Lance had listened to those warnings. So how come he now found himself not only near the shore, but with a human object in his arms? Maybe it was the way the light shone off it, or the strange feeling he had to need to know more about it. What Lance didn't know was that the message hidden inside that bottle would change his life forever. TW: Angst. A lot of it. After a machine Pidge was testing malfunctions, Keith and Lance are hit with a huge energy blast. Nothing seemed to change, until both boys passed out at the same time. When they woke up, Lance had turned into an Altean Prince, and Keith was stuck permanently in his Galran form. While the rest of the team tries desperately to fix them, the two are forced to spend time with each other despite their own wishes. Over time the two develop such a close bond that it shocks the rest of the team senseless. And who could blame them for being shocked?
