You had gotten the aspect of choosing who you will be mated to, only by the mating games. Every wolf the age of 17-25 is forcefully entered. Now this isn't your normal mating games. The females attract males by how strong they are. And the males must fight the female for a chance to mark and mate them. If the female wins the fight then the female can either choose to mate him, and be the dominant one. Or they can run. But if the male wins he can either kill the female knowing she's to weak or choose her and mark her on the spot. When a female gets marked though it's like there wild side is in hibernation. The male gets all of her respect and fear but also he gets control over her. This mating game last for 2 weeks. Now there's also a third option, if you survive the two weeks without being marked or killed them you are free to go for that year but are forced to come back again and again until you either die or find a mate. Obsidian , a normal werewolf has recently turned of age to enter in the mating games, is only 17. She's sarcastic, strong, very athletic, everything a male would want as a mate. but she doesn't want a mate.
