The world has gone dark, gloomy, and scarce 6 years after Sarah, Millie, Oswald, and Pete have died/disappeared. (Oswald was assumed dead by others) The side characters and protagonists who survived from these stories are together in a camp, surviving the best they can in the scarce world. Abby and Dylan are ghost hunters, in search of Millie and Sarah and the other ghosts to find out answers to their deaths and if Sarah and Millie are still alive out there.
