From April 1970 through April 1971, husband and wife, Jessie Wallace Sr. and Cora Clifton Wallace are only able to communicate with each other through writing letters during Jessie Sr.'s year of service during the Vietnam War.
The year is 1965. A sixteen-year-old Peggy meets nineteen-year-old Army Soldier Bobby. The two quickly fall for each other and at Bobby's request begin writing letters to each other. Peggy's parents disapprove of the relationship, but she doesn't care, because her soldier is coming home to her, or so she thinks.
