Kankri Vantas doesn't have a lot of friends in beforus, even tho he has Mituna, Menah and Porrim, none of them really pay much attention to his rants. No one really showed any type of interest until he meets Cronus Ampora. Unlike the celibate Kankri, Cronus is a hopeless flirt, that doesn't mean that anyone actually likes him. In fact he doesn't know of anyone he could consider a friend, true that he has family, but Eridan doesn't like to talk a lot whit his dancestor. So for kankri to try and be friendly whit him was a big deal.
