Since its founding, the Kingdom of Aisling has upheld a unique tradition: for every child born to the royal family, an Elite 3 is chosen from the nobility at a young age to be presented as participants of their Inaugural Season; they alone, are lawfully eligible to wed the royal of their corresponding age and complimentary gender. However, while the Elite are acutely aware of their standing, the royal is kept ignorant of their identities- thus expected to find his or her own decidedly suitable consort in a sea of hopefuls...

Lady Adalie Blackmore is a daughter born to the most prominent, influential family of the Aislain nobility. She is finally 17, and ready to be presented to society, but after struggling to claim a place in the upcoming Season, she has little hope that she'll find a husband to love her and whisk her away from a home so polished on the outside, but broken within.
Throughout the kingdom, it is well known that any Blackmore of correspondence to a royal is certainly an Elite- but Adalie, the outcast of her family, is no match for her twin sister, Lillibet, who made it known to her from the moment she could speak that she had been selected over her.
What Adalie doesn't expect to find at court is the unlikely friendship of Prince Bennett, the man her own sister had been deemed worthy of. Can she muster the courage to admit to him she is not an Elite before the infatuation grows too strong, or does she already care too deeply to let him slip through her fingers?
