"She a coward sitting alone in her room, faceless and nameless among the many others like her. She was the shadow of a "real" girl. Laura felt the tears come, and it felt like forever since they've last truly fallen." We can't control the world but we can control how we react to it. Wise words, but nobody, especially not Laura Cliff, actually cares to follow that mantra. You could call it a character flaw but in her mind, it is unrelenting confidence in her ability to read people. Even if reading people is like talking through a tin can connected by a string that spans 1,000 miles. Relationships, she will learn, are kind of like that. If a drunk aunt and a sober world can't help her see through the lies, who exactly can? In The Lies We Share by Courtney Knight, one girl finds power and love in her daily life. Copyright 2020

I could feel my eyes widening, heart thumping and the sickly wet feeling of a bead of sweat sliding down my forehead, down to my ear and stopping there. I wanted to lift my hand and wipe it off, but I couldn't let go of that stupid small hope of going unseen by this six foot broad shouldered silhouette, standing beside the now open door, if I don't move. I opened my mouth to shout for help, to scream at the intruder, but nothing came out. Acting on instinct I picked up the nearest thing that came into my hand. Nothing apart from the silhouette's outline was visible under the moonlight. I watched as he slowly lifted his head and then his whole body froze. I could feel my chest heaving up and down, my breath going in and out in a broken rhythm and then I threw the apple at him. Before he could react I grabbed another one and threw it at him again. Suddenly a deep, soul shaking voice shouted, "What the heck?" *** Extended summary/blurb inside🙃 Enjoy! *** Thank you for stopping by and voluntarily stepping into this madness!! He uncrossed his legs and leaned forward in his chair. "Tell them partner, who was it?" "It was Natasha." I said unevenly. "Lie." He hissed. "It was me." "You really thought that I was the kind of guy who would leave one girlfriend and jump to another." Avinash's words felt like daggers "I felt bad for you, after the Cafeteria incident, I was just being nice to you as one human to another, and you mistook it for romantic interest." "Ha!" I couldn't take it anymore "you thought I wanted to be your girlfriend ? Don't overestimate yourself Chauhan. Girls like Dumbini want dumb boyfriends like you." I scoffed. He glared at me. "Yes it was to make you jealous." I was not going to give him what he wanted "but not because I wanted to be your girlfriend. I would never want you," I ridiculed him " to be my boyfriend. Mandy and I had a bet, that I will make you take my virginity before Christmas next year. All this was just to win that bet." Didn't see that coming, did you jock? "Well, you may not be worth being a boyfriend, but you surely are worth a good fuck." I said coolly, while my mind was in a turmoil. "And you thought I would take YOUR virginity." He replied recovering from the shock. "I would rather jerk myself, thank you." ****** Plump and clumsy Naxi is overwhelmed when she receives the letter of acceptance from the College of Espionage with a clause of non-disclosure, thus preventing her from revealing about it to her parents. As she embarks on her journey to become a spy, her path crosses with the smoldering distraction in the form of Avinash Chauhan, her college senior. She knows he is out of her league, yet she can't keep away from the chase just to win a silly bet, unaware that the pursuit would transform her into someone she would despise forever. Caught at the unexpected crossroads, Naxi Banerjee has to decide whether she is ready to become the subject of her own hatred just to win Avinash Chauhan.
