(Morrigan × OC) Facade. We all think nobody can see through ours. Why do we have them? What are we hiding? Sorrow? Because we don't want to be weak? Happiness? Because it's so precious that we have to hide it? When do we realise others have one? Is it a human instinct then? To hide vulnerability and happiness both? If it was an instinct and everyone had one, then that would have comforted Morrigan. As life would have it, she had to learn that facades are delicate. They slip on and off and some people can see through them. A lot more than what she would have liked.

Some say that everyone's fate is already determined. If that's the case, Estelle Marzena is greatly disappointed with hers. Her greatest dream is to participate in the Illyrian Blood Rite and become a Carynthian warrior, like so many in her family. She has been training for the Rite her entire life, and yet, she continues to be told that she isn't ready. Estelle must find a way to prove her skills to her mentors so that she can prove her skills to the world, and she might have unwittingly stumbled across a way to do that. Being the bastard son of the High Lord of Dawn isn't something Mikael Anik takes lightly. Despite his parents' love and acceptance, Mikael continued to feel the pressure and unease of his people. His birth parents never married and he is a Peregryn halfbreed, the likes of which had never become a High Lord before. Mikael is devoted to proving himself to both his fathers and his people, but can he do that and deal with a surprisingly irritating Shadowsinger at the same time? Brinna, an Illyrian half-breed, has given every piece of herself away until there is nothing but hatred in her veins. She hates Illyrian males more than anything. Azriel believes he's caught a traitor amongst the ranks, a female who ran from her camp and betrayed her legion. Sensing the deep, unending bond between them, Azriel feels hope. Instead he finds walls of steal and ice cold rage in a mate determined to hate him. _ "What did they do to you?" His voice was soft, pleading as he furrowed his brow and searched and pulled on that tether that seemed to be bound to nothing but solid steel and adamant now. "What they've done to me is no concern of yours, shadowsinger," she spat the word like a curse. _ Slowburn, enemies to lovers, Azriel/OC (trigger warnings in later chapters)
