Have you ever belonged to two peoples, but never really belonged to them? Like you're apart of them both but neither chose to accept you? For example, you could hang out with two totally different groups of friends; one upper class and the other at the bottom of the ladder. But with both, you aren't really accepted. You are either too high class for one group of friends or too low for the other? That is my life. Being the product of two completely different people, I never truly fit in. They always thought I didn't have anything, that I was nothing special...But they never cared to simply ask. So when the day comes where we are to give everything we have, I'll let my true colours shine. Because the whole time... I was just holding back.

"It's either me or him homegirl." Living in a neighborhood where the black and brown coincided, there were always fights and shots fired in the dead of night. She wasn't really fond of that lifestyle but had no choice as her sixteen year old self stayed with her sister and her kingpin boyfriend and three year old niece. She wasn't the type to be alone in the neighborhood so she had a close friend who was far out of bounds, mouth reckless, and skin different than everyone there. As her friend, he entertained her and kept her safe, but she was also curious about her neighbor. A little too curious. It takes a death, a gun pointed at her head, and life altering fight for her to see the dangers that the other one possessed. Nevertheless, she was caught between two different dangers.
