"Hey." It all started with that three lettered word in a mysterious text from an unknown Californian number―hey. Alex Turner is your average seventeen―almost eighteen―year old girl. She's been through the normal teenage girl drama, like every other girl her age. She never thought she would be the same after her ex shattered her heart, but she finds herself being stronger than she imagined, and pulled through what the world had to throw at her. Though she thought fate hated her, Alex was surprised when she received that three lettered text one day, along with the drama that came with it. What she didn't know, is that that simple greeting would open so many new doors. Jake Carter was the guy for her, and fate decided that when he first sent her that text message. * * * This used to say "Based On A True Story," but I took it down because I'm sick of explaining that only the idea how Jake and Alex meet is true. Some other stuff might be true, but that's mainly it. :) And it didn't happen to me, but my friend :P © 2013, all rights reserved. Book 1: When fifteen year old Tori befriends a boy, she has no idea how much her life would change. Not too far into their new found friendship, he asks her to imagine a scene in her head: "Picture a room with three doors. Each one has something different inside. You can pick something from each door over and over again. But one day, you'll have to pick a door, and once you pick that door, there's no going back." In this tale of friendship, love, loss, self-harm, depression and decision making, you get to get a true and raw perspective of two teenagers dealing with things that have now become a social norm.

Three things happened simultaneously: the beer bottle dropped from his hand and shattered on the floor, my father let out a deep, throaty chuckle, and his hand had struck me across the face. I put my hand on the spot he had just hit and felt the heat and sting of the impact. I looked down at the broken beer bottle, still holding my hand on my cheek, and I felt a heavy boot kick into my waist. I fought back tears and stayed silent. After a few moments, I heard the footsteps retreating and the sound of a door slamming shut. When I was sure he was gone, I looked away from the broken bottle, and tears welled up in my eyes. I never showed my weaknesses to my father, happiness was the last thing I wanted to give him. After a few minutes, I pulled myself off the floor and slowly approached my dresser, cautiously opening the top drawer and moving some socks out of the way. I pulled out a long blade, and with trembling hands, slid it across my wrist, adding to the collection of scars. I began to quietly sing a familiar tune that seemed to comfort me in times like this: “Heart beats harder, time escapes me, trembling hands touch skin, it makes it harder, and the tears stream down my face. If we could only have this life for one more day, if we could only turn back time…” My voice trailed off and I drifted to sleep.
