Lance is less than thrilled about his choice of jobs for the summer, but work is work and money is money. Keith came from Shiro and Lance's childhood, but Lance never really saw Keith. Only during dinner if Keith stayed over, or when Keith was leaving and Lance was coming back from dance classes. When Keith see's Shiro and Lance's family when they think of him as more than just the boy Shiro tutors, he see's them differently.
