Every elf's born with a mark on the back of their neck which defines which of the four seasons they are. The seasons can't mingle for fear of death to each other. The 'cold seasons', Fall and Winter, can occasionally have reunions, same for the 'sun seasons', Spring and Summer, but it would kill a cold season elf if they got too close to a sun season elf and vice versa. Alexander Hamilton was a mix of Fall and Winter, often shunned by his peers but also given much more freedom to roam the cold seasons's lands. John Laurens was a purebred Summer elf, confined strictly to the warm parts of the Summer lands. But when the two meet online and develop a close bond, things get a little more complicated.
