Sir Alaeron Steelmourne is a knight with no order, no history, no memories. All he has is the vague recollection of a holy mission to vanquish a terrible evil, but the world he finds himself in now is greatly changed, and evil is everywhere. Skender en-Kasadi is a thief, conman, and all-around scoundrel, and that's just the part people know about. He's done a decent job so far keeping his magic hidden, but it is only a matter of time before he is discovered... and hunted. Both of them are inclined to walk this world alone, but Fate has other plans for them. Forced together by the most unlikely of circumstances, our two heroes find themselves up against a corrupt clergy, a ruthless secret police force, and entirely too many monsters. As they uncover truths surrounding Alaeron's missing past and Skender's uncertain future, they are drawn ever closer to to a dark figure long believed lost, now once more awake and very, very hungry. If they are to survive, they must do so together. That is if they don't kill each other first. UPDATES MONDAY AND THURSDAY

Dacre Lenore was sure of a lot of things, but what he was sure of most was his hatred for vampires. Vermin. Corpses puppeteered by demons. The extermination of them was his noble birthright, his holy burden to bear, and he wasn't going to let anything get in the way of that. And then he became one. Which got in the way of that. +++ The Old Knife was a sect of the church dedicated to the extermination of vampires, founded by the ten aristocratic families of Upper Hartbury. Killing vampires was their prerogative. Corruption within was a well-known secret. Dacre Lenore had his future planned down to the letter. Train rigorously, rise up the political ranks of the Old Knife, marry the Cardinal's daughter and then one day become Cardinal himself. Restoring honour to the noble name of Lenore was his duty, and nothing would stop him from succeeding. And then he met Casper McPhee - scrappy, common Casper McPhee, and that future started looking like one big cruel joke. Crueller still, being turned into a vampire to then be hunted down by a less-scrappy, more terrifying looking Casper McPhee. +++ EXTREMELY ROUGH DRAFT, MINIMAL EDITING! "He has to skirt around what he truly means. Vulnerability and honesty are only welcome offerings when he has his forehead pressed to Azazael's feet. Straddling a god and pushing his wrists onto the sheets is a permission that has been granted. Oliver only stays afloat by good graces. At any moment, he could fall into the depths where the rest of the world has sunk to, corpses tangled on top of one another. It's so clear now. He can see right through to the seabed. His bed." After a far too long lifetime of being Azazael's human, Oliver welcomes the end of his life.

Arthur had always felt like an outsider in his village deep within the forest. At seventeen, He was no ordinary boy. With horns curling from his forehead and eyes as golden as a goat's. His charisma was often overshadowed by his mean-streak and unfiltered honesty. Traits that often made him both intriguing and isolating. He carried a string adored with gems that shimmered like the moon and stars, a mysterious heirloom that was both his burden and his gift.

In fifteen days, on his twentieth birthday, Prince Ronan Aldrea will die at the hands of a god. His path was set long before his birth by hands worlds away from his, unbiased and unyielding in their actions, and had been written into prophecy by seers of ages past. The hands of Fate had called for his death, but Ronan did not plan to sit idly by and let them claim him. The prophecy did not rest on Ronan's shoulders alone; it worked through a member of the Pantheon of Seven, the god Aevar, the one meant to kill him. With Aevar's arrival in the mortal realm comes a fierce reminder that his days are numbered, and with each pawn Fate puts into play, Ronan becomes more determined to defy it. In all of history, be it mortal or godly, Fate has reigned superior. It has never lost, never faltered, least of all fallen before a frightened mortal prince. But Ronan Aldrea intends to change those odds-no matter the cost.
