A boy by the name of Nathaniel Lambert is all alone in the world trying to survive, but he finds other kids and they try to stick together to fend off the "creatures" that lurk in the shadows ready for a meal. They travel around trying to ring survivors to help and to join there group. Then they find themselves in trouble with some things that they find out that were about the terrible happenings around the nation.
