Lapis lazulis are pretty common on Homeworld but what many don't know is that there are a special kind of lapis lazulis. Royal lapis lazulis. Due to her rarity and advance powers Lazuli was given a rank on Homeworld only second to the Diamond's rank. She was treated with great respect and favored greatly by the Diamonds, especially White Diamond. When Pink Diamond claimed Earth for her first colony and made a Human Zoo White Diamond gifted her Royal Lapis Lazuli in celebration of her taking over a planet and because Lazuli was the best terraformer on Homeworld(White Diamond knew how much Pink Diamond treasured her humans).
