Luke was a bit lonely. He didn't have loving parents or a best friend. He tends to stutter a lot, and that's why most people don't talk to him, but he's working on it. Michael was paired up in English with the dyslexic kid who stuttered, so he was quite annoyed, but Luke thought of Michael as his best friend. Michael always felt the need to protect Luke, no matter how much the blonde kid got on his nerves.
