Odkąd zakończyła się bitwa na Crait, Ruchowi Oporu przez kilka lat udawało się uciekać przed siłami Najwyższego Porządku. Jednak śmiałe posunięcie rebeliantów, jakim był nieudany atak na krążownik przewożący kryształy Kyber w Nieznane Regiony, przechylił szalę zwycięstwa na stronę reżimu.
