The Hundred Year War is still going on. Among the Fire Nation is young Ezra Bridger, an orphan who's parents were killed 10 years ago. He is sent to find prince in exile Zuko, who was last seen near the North Pole. All the while, young waterbending protege, Sabine Wren, is being sent alongside a team of waterbenders to check up on the Southern Water Tribe. But after being told something she'd rather die then hear, she jumps ship and leaves. Meanwhile, earthbending freedom fighters Kanan Jarrus, Hera Syndulla-Jarrus, and their child, alongside non-bender Zeb Orrelios, are looking to keep the Fire Nation away from their home. Destiny has set things in motion that cannot be undone. Soon, these few will meet and when they do, the results will be... interesting.

Ba Sing Se. The Earth Kingdom capital. The safe haven for refugees. Or those just trying to escape the war. Ezra has been inside for only a week, and is already anxious to get out. Whoever he looks at, he is suspicious of for killing his parents. Sabine is having a hard time getting used to the city, too. Though Ezra vowed to protect her, she is still concerned that... He will find her. The Jarrus family, and Zeb, is trying to adjust to their new status in the high society of the Earth Kingdom. Yet it requires rules that they are not fully comfortable with following. All the while, Maul is on the prowl, hunting for Ezra. He is wanting to bring him back for either prison or execution. The Avatar has arrived to find his sky bison, and when he comes, it may spell disaster for the family we are following.

Avatar Aang has fallen. Ba Sing Se has fallen. The Earth Kingdom has fallen. The War is not over, but it is all but lost. Ezra is still devastated from learning the truth of who killed his parents. This devastation has lead him to being unable to firebend anymore. Sabine wants to get her friend back. Without him, she feels vulnerable, exposed, and worried that... he will find them. The Jarruses and Zeb are now searching for a home again. Yet everywhere they look, the Fire Nation is there. The Fire Nation is preparing for the Day of Black Sun and Sozin's Comet to arrive. Destiny always tends to work in favor of balance. But how will these individuals get to that point?
