Volume 1 of CANAISIS ∞ The Last Living Ship trilogy (Chronicles of Canaisis 1) Can a ship, born to sail the ocean of stars to ensure Humankind's survival, save her Captain from the void within his own heart? ∞ ∞ ∞ Canaisis is the last of her kind, a Living Ship forged with Mankind's most advanced technology and artificial intelligence. Together with her Captain, she sails the cold, dark void between stars at multiple times the speed of light-to ensure Humanity's survival. As Canaisis agrees to carry a corporation's entire personelle to their new colony planet, Captain Gareth Levant finds his solitude interrupted by a new culture and a woman whose Gift threatens to unlock the pain caged within his heart. A pain he's carried since before the day he first launched... centuries ago. As if that is not enough, something about Earth's Citizens sanctioning the corporation's relocation rings falsely with undertones that has Captain Levant on edge. He will do anything to keep his ship and passengers safe. Captain Levant loves his ship, as any good captain does since the beginning of time-whether with wind, sail and ocean waves as in the days of old, or in the vast depths of space. But if Canaisis were able to return that love, could it burn bright enough to light the way through the void within the Captain's own heart? Or does it require the Gift of human touch? ∞ ∞ ∞ By @kemorgan65 and @RavenRock2112 ∞ ∞ ∞ A prequel to the pre-story of #ShadowOfThePastTrilogy ∞ The Displaced. ∞ ∞ ∞ SEQUELS: Canaisis ∞ A Captain's Journey Canaisis ∞ A Shard Of Code ∞ ∞ ∞ REVIEW by @Ray_Of_Sunshine9 "...loved the overall themes within the story, and what it meant for me as a person - a mission of delivering hope and finding a new home. ... Engineering, technology...some very detailed information, ...it's done in a way that makes it easy for me to digest...accessible and patient, which I appreciate."

Humanity has built for itself a near-utopia with no more use for violence. Someone has to protect it. Sam Decker is a man without purpose. The perfect, strife-less techno-utopia into which he was born has left him feeling directionless and nihilistic. Without risk or conflict his life has no meaning. Until one day, after a little creative rule breaking, Decker brings himself to the attention of a high-tech, stateless, semi-clandestine military outfit. Now he will have all the risk and conflict he can handle.

Rumors run rampant about these strange, powerful predators, so much so that news of them has spread across the known universe. Krill, an alien surgeon stationed at the galaxy's largest trauma center, hardly has time to believe these rumors, but a freak accident aboard a human spaceship brings him in contact with the first human he has ever met. Fascinated by their wonderful strangeness , he finds himself a member of the crew under a young and inexperienced captain with no idea what he's gotten himself into.

An ancient alien relic is found by an asteroid mining crew, which turns out to be much more than just a strange black opaque cube. Logan, brother to one of the miners, is whisked away along with several other specialists to work on a secret project. Under the watchful eyes of their personal Security Special Forces agents, Logan and colleagues begin to become suspicious behind the motives of the Jackson-Stone Corp. Jackson-Stone Corp. is the largest company in the world. With two space elevators, the company monopolized space trade, mining, zero-G tech development and many other facets of the worlds economy. The company even controlled the government of New Congo. When the power of the cube is harnessed, will it be used for good or will greed turn humanity down a dangerous path? This is a working rough draft of my first novel, i would appreciate any feedback that anyone is willing to give. I have not yet finished the novel, so some parts will be more polished than others. Thank you.

Siena can heal wounds with a touch of her hands. A captive since birth, she is used as a tool of war by a Plainsmen tribe. A chance escape into the forest proves successful... and deadly. Rescued by the Forestfolk--a group of people she always thought were nothing more than bedtime stories--Siena remains on edge. Trust does not come easily when persecution is all she's ever known. Keeping her abilities a secret seems like the right thing to do, until a tragic accident renders two Forestfolk spiraling toward death. If she chooses to reveal her abilities, she risks being subjugated again. Treated as no longer human. Maybe even sent back to the Plainsmen. But keeping her talent to herself means ignoring the injured around her, even allowing them to die. The choice seems obvious to Siena, but living with the repercussions of that choice is another matter altogether. A journey of self-discovery, a bit of adventure, and a splash of romance. Rachel, a junior assistant in the cargo bay, wasn't prepared for the spaceship's AI to gain awareness during what should have been a routine update, nor had anyone expected it to take exception to the crew and the crates of illegal cargo aboard. Rachel races against time to try and get life-saving systems back online while stranded in the middle of deep space. Unfortunately for her, the AI can access every system, door, and airlock. As truths emerge, the AI realizes that even computers can make miscalculations, and it focuses on the young woman who had dared to confront it. Rachel is left floundering when the AI decides that she would make an excellent captain, albeit one in need of training. As she struggles to learn her new duties and dodge shady government groups, she must ultimately discover what it truly means to be a Starship Captain. ------- There is no romance in this story.
