Stranded in a strange land far from home, a lone girl struggles to survive. She finds sanctuary among the streets rats of Balbadd and learns to live in the shadows of society. Fueled by the need to take revenge on those that killed her father she crosses paths with another orphan gripped with wrath. Together the two fight to survive and achieve their goals and on the way find themselves growing closer and closer. But their black-stained dreams threaten to crumble as outside forces impose more and more on their way of life. The story of a man that welcomed the darkness and a woman that would follow him into it. A tale of dark and light, of hate and forgiveness, and of undying love. ~This is the fifth installment in my Magi Fanfiction series, the other books do not need to be read in order, but certain references and characters will make more sense if they are.~

Sindria and Kou have come to an agreement. Sindria will give a the Kou Empire a bride for the eldest son as a peace offering. The bride is no other than Sinbad's little sister, Sindri. Sindri is not willing at all and is quite bitter she is a sacrifice for peace. The day comes and Kouen and Sindri are married. The two are conflicted about their feelings for each other. As they get closer and closer a sinister plot begins to brew. There is a presence in the palace that would like their marriage to fail and end the peace treaty between Sindria and Kou. It will try anything and everything to achieve its goal. As Kouen and Sindri realize their true feelings they must fight to protect the bonds that keep them together.

A traveling circus arrives in the Kou Empire, and they are invited to perform at the palace in honor of the Crown Princess's birthday. During the performance, a blindfolded dancer catches the eye of a certain red-eyed Magi. He demands ownership of the Dancer, determined to make her his new plaything. The Dancer dreams of freedom, but soon finds out that she traded one set of chains for another. As broken hearts come together and fall apart, a small bud of emotion blossoms into love. The journey from hate to love is hard, and someone is determined to stop them at every turn. She can't stand being caged, but he can't bear to let her go. *This story can be read alone, but some aspects will make more sense if you read my other Magi story, The Peace Offering.*
