Harry James Potter was born on July 31, 1980. On the night of his second Halloween, October 31, 1981, Harry and his parents, James and Lily, were attacked by the True Dark Lord. Harry's godfather, a man named Sirius Black, was sent to Azkaban the morning after; he claimed that he betrayed the Potters and told the True Dark Lord where the Potters were hiding. Albus Dumbledore leaves infant Harry on his aunt's doorstep in the wee hours of the morning on November 1st. Dumbledore had hoped that the boy would be taken care of by Petunia and Vernon Dursley, but that is not the case. The year is 1991 and Harry James Potter, a very different Harry James Potter than Dumbledore had hoped, is attending Hogwarts. The premise is that the Dursleys got him there very early and Hermione, being the perfectionist that she is, also arrived very early. Thus they meet and the glory of H/Hr begins. When Harry was bitten by the basilisk, the venom destroyed the Horcrux in his head, but Fawkes saved Harry's life. The basilisk venom and phoenix tears combined break the seal on Harry's magical core. Accidental magic begins to happen around him, and not all of its consequences are good. Only with the help Hermione and new friends can he learn to control his newfound power. He only hopes it's enough to save him from the Dementors and Sirius Black.

She was born nearly a year after her older brother and older cousin, and about three months before Harry came to live with the Dursleys. Violet, unlike her older brother, was not an unpleasant child, nor overweight, demanding, selfish, ungrateful, insolent, a bully or manipulative... Through the years, Violet discovered her family hated everything and anything not normal. Therefore, she made it her personal mission to be as un-normal as possible. She went through just about every façade possible... She finally got her chance when a certain letter arrived in one of the most strangest ways in the summer holidays after she became eleven. This is her story.

It's year four for Harry and his friends, and Voldemort has returned with a sinister plot to gain more Death Eater followers through the Triwizard Tournament. There's only one problem: Sirius has put his significant political clout to good use by insisting that an external committee entirely made up of parents oversee the tasks and make sure they are as safe as possible, and that the goblet of fire be altered to allow forfeits, and different school champions be selected for each of the now seven tasks. With Severus risking his life spying on Voldemort once again, Sirius and his friends and allies intend to make the most of the information he gains. The year is not going to be as smooth as everyone wants, though, with an unexpected creature inheritance and new powers for someone, and teenage hormones really messing up the emotions of every one of the trio and their friends. ~~~~~ Book four of my series rewrite, with more tasks and champions as promised. Almost totally different to canon now, except that Dumbles is still manipulative and intent on making Harry a martyr, whether he's a Horcrux or not.

After successfully managing to gain custody of Harry, Remus and Sirius have raised Harry well. He knows that he's loved, and well-treated, and he's friends with Ron and Neville. However, a visit to Gringotts on Harry's tenth birthday to get him confirmed as the heir to the Potter and Black Houses proves that Dumbledore has done something awful to Harry, and they realise they must remain cautious of him. This leads us to Harry's very well-known first year at Hogwarts, but this time with Draco, Neville, and Hermione by his side. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Just a note: Most of the relationships will start to happen in the third book. It's my plan to work through all the canon books. This first one starts out echoing canon very closely, but will become quite AU after the first few books. AU Post-War Hogwarts 8th Year
