Gabriella Elster is many things to many people. A delight to teach, an obedient and talented dancer, a somewhat good friend, an obsessive person overall. To her parents, though, she is simply a lost cause. The only exception is when she steps on stage, when she shines, makes everyone around her look like a pathetic shadow. Only then is she actually seen. At least, that's what she thought. Living in constant fear of upsetting people and accepting violence is something she has grown to think of as the norm over the years. So when Scarlett Johansson comes to judge during an audition for the next Black Widow movie and shows to be the exact opposite of her parents, Gabriella isn't sure she likes it.

Natasha Romanoff is a monster. She doesn't love, she doesn't care. She doesn't let herself feel anything. She simply avoids mirrors like the plague to avoid seeing a plain reflection of the awfulness of her past. Because that's who she's become. Redemption is just a cover. All she can do is manipulate her own feelings to feel like, maybe, she might belong here in S.H.I.E.L.D.. And as she struggles to make sense of her own twisted life and actions, Natasha would be damned to meet someone whose entire being reflects her own. Except that someone is a seven year old girl, and she's so much worse than anything she could have imagined.
