After losing the man who had finally managed to spark something in Steve's heart, Steve has been unable to sleep without seeing visions of horrible things. One night things change though when a red-eyed creature taps at his window and whispers a familiar phrase. Warnings: This story will contain some gore, I'll add more warnings as anything else pops up. There will also possibly be violence, talk about d3@th, light sexual references. There is talk of depression, anxiety, nightmares. Time period: This story takes place nine months after season 4 (so that would be late December) but I forgot to do the math while writing it until now so forgive me for that pls :(. For the sake of keeping the characters in Hawkins I'm pretending the "earthquake" barely affected much of the town, the Upside Down isn't taking over as much as it is at the end of the show.

Hanahaki Disease is a fictional disease in which the victim coughs up flower petals when they suffer from one-sided love. It ends when the beloved returns their feelings.
