I've been on the run for three years. I'm not the first, but I certainly won't be the last. For as long as I can remember, I had been experimented on, drugged to the brink of insanity, and tortured by someone I thought was my family. Boy, was I wrong. This isn't one of those stories where I suddenly get a huge boost of courage and defeat the bad guys then live happily ever after. I don't believe in that stuff anymore. Instead, I was a coward, and ran for my life, for my freedom, because I was too afraid to stand and fight and risk losing control like the monster they had created me to be. I've been too many people, have moved too many times. Now, I wonder if I will finally be able to find a place to call home... I won't allow myself to be captured before I even have a chance at that. Because if do, I'm as good as dead. © Sweetslover8 ~August 26th, 2013 ***Please note that the following is a work of fiction. Angry and bitter about her parent's divorce, sixteen-year-old Faith Everett isn't pleased when her mother packs up their lives and moves them to the small town of Meadow. Faith has a bone to pick with the world and prefers to stay away from the company of others. She has her reasons, but she's not about to share them with anyone. Hope Chamberlain, often referred to as the Mother Theresa of Meadow, has spent her life devoted to service, tradition, and the unshaken belief that goodness can mend whatever's broken. She leads her church's summer camp with a heart full of conviction and the belief that no soul is beyond saving. When Faith is forced to attend the same summer camp, their lives collide, and the two couldn't be more different. Hope wants to help Faith rediscover her religion--Faith just wants Hope to disappear. But as the girls' lives intertwine, what begins as resistance turns into a quiet, fragile connection that neither one of them expects. As the summer unfolds, both girls are forced to confront painful secrets, question their beliefs, and redefine what family and friendship truly mean. A poignant coming-of-age story about love, loss, and redemption. Hope and Faith explores the beauty of heartbreak, and how two opposites learn that healing sometimes begins in the most unexpected places.

I remember the day I first heard of them. I was driving my van with my mother in the passenger seat. The news channel was playing over the radio. The current story was suddenly cut off and a man's voice crackled over the speakers: "We interrupt this program to bring you breaking news," He began. "A new disease is spreading rapidly all over the world and infecting humans. Nobody is sure what it is; but we know one thing, It was stolen." A new voice came over the radio. "Hello, citizens of California! I'm here with Nicole Bradson, the leading researcher in Virus Studies at Baily University." The man said. "Would you like to tell us about this strange new epidemic?" A panicked-sounding voice came from the woman, she was clearly not pleased. "All I can tell you is to run. This virus was stolen from our laboratory. It was locked up for a very good reason. It is highly contagious and spreads through bodily fluids. You need to run from it. If it's too late to run, lock yourself somewhere safe until rescue teams can find you and escort you to safety. Do not panic." The man with the news crew interrupted her with questions. "Run from what, exactly? What should we perceive as a threat?" The woman paused for a moment as if thinking. "Do not attempt to approach anyone with red eyes. They are infected with the virus." Her voice trembled. "They are unstoppable." ~~~~~~~~~~~ This story is heavily inspired by "A Different Virus - Heartfire" by Crystal Scherer. If you haven't read it or "A Different Virus - Laura's Story" (Also by Crystal Scherer), please consider checking them out first. Finished it? It's awesome, I know. Well, here's my version, the story of Ivy and her struggle to survive the Apocalypse. Do you think she can do it? Or will she number among the ever-growing, ever-hungry horde of humans turned monster?

This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent? Is this fleeting shadow something that can help her or could this mysterious figure be even more dangerous than the zombies themselves? ---------------------- Ranked #1 Apr 10, 2018 (A huge thank you to all who read and voted!) This story is copyright and built from my own imagination. This book was a special request from someone who helped me a lot. This viewpoint has less action than the original.
