The princess didn't want to. She knew she could never love their rival. But she would do anything for her kingdom. If her marriage could form an alliance with a powerful enemy, she would do anything. And that's what she intended to do.

After many retellings of Bilbo's tale, many details were forgotten, one of them being a friend, family member and loved one. Her story shall be told once more.
