Harry Potter is having an absolutely brilliant summer at the Dursley's - as usual. His aunt and uncle seemed to be especially nasty to him, and the Dark Lord's nightly meetings haunt his dreams (due to the fact that he never truly recieved satisfactory Occlumency training). One night, Harry witnesses Voldemort make a huge mistake that would effect the rest of his life. NO SLASH. [This is Severitus (almost), and past the 5th book, OoTP, I'm just throwing canonicity out the proverbial window.]

This story was written by Momma-dar How different would Harry be if he was taken from the Dursley's when he was five and raised by his father and the Hogwarts staff at the school. And what is the big shock that Severus gets after he brings Harry home.

Harry has been abused by the Dursley's for as long as he can remember, both physically and mentally. During the summer after his fifth year, the Dursley's go too far. When Harry fails to send a letter to the Order after three days someone comes to check on him and the abuse he has kept silent about comes into light. (I know Sirius dies in The Order of The Phoenix, but I'm changing it so deal with it. Also, Harry doesn't have to wear glasses in this fic.
