Sofia likes to think she has the best of everything. The young Parisian revels under the bright city lights, culture and refinery of her hometown. It is all she has ever known... until now. Her carefully manicured world comes crashing down around her as she finds herself in a different place and, worse, a different time. Robbed of the comforts of home, Sofia is forced to endure the cruelties of the Acadian Expulsion. Along the way she will be pushed to the edge of her limits, discover an unexpected love, and relearn who she is. Surivivng the past will not be easy, but what choice does she have?

Dahlia dreams of being a part of the world outside her window. She stares, she reaches, but can't touch. Mother Jael loves her daughter and imprisoning her daughter in their small beach bungalow is the last thing on her mind. But after the trauma of losing a husband to the churning sea, Mother Jael is seemingly hopelessly terrified of the world Dahlia so desperately wants to be a part of.
