He is at lost for what to do. He has no idea where he is and no way of contacting the outside world and Richie is clearly unbalanced, but yet, he's so kind to him, in his way, honest, open and emotional. Eddie continues this kindness towards Richie, at first because he knows if he doesn't, he will die, but soon he comes to terms with the fact that he is in fact, in love.

Richie doesn't know Eddie (yet) because he just moved here. Eddie always passes by Richies house on the way home. And he is always carrying a jar of honey. Richie is afraid to talk to him so he just admired him from his window until one day their lives collide. ✨🍯✨
