After the climactic battle in the Mountainlands, Prince Darren has returned to his castle in Sentria, and though they won the battle, he is deeply wounded after a deep loss. He's given up trying to save Askeran, leaving it to the older royals, but an old friend knows that there is still hope as long as they keep trying.
