The room felt smaller today, heavy with the things they hadn't said. Kitan finally broke the silence, his voice barely a whisper, echoing with a raw honesty he usually kept locked away.
"I know there are times when I'm actually hard to be with," he started, his gaze fixed on the floor as if he were cataloging his own shadows. "You fell in love with someone who has so many problems, and I just want to say thank you for being there-despite having plenty of reasons not to."
He finally looked up at her, his eyes searching hers for the rejection he felt he deserved. "I'm flawed. I'm ruined. You've had every reason to stay the hell away from me, yet you stayed and tried saving me. All I need..." he paused, his breath hitching, "...is you needing me, Ikeoluwa."
Ikeoluwa didn't flinch. She stepped into his space, closing the gap that his secrets had built.
"At the end of the day, I realize you're all I really want," she said, her voice a steady anchor in his storm. "Your flaws and your ruins are mine to accept now. When all the confusion clears and I think about my life, I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have next to me than you."
She reached out, her touch a silent promise. "You're every reason, every hope, and every dream I've ever had. No matter what happens to us in the future, every day we are together is the greatest day of my life. I will always be yours... and you will always be mine.
