If they were to bring Ben Solo back this is how I think they could do it.

As they face turmoil between themselves, getting stuck on a desolate planet together, and have to fight off the evil within, even the strongest can come out on top in the end. Unless she succeeds. News of Snoke's death travels fast across the galaxy and a bid for power ensues. Distracted by the events of Crait, and constant, uninvited...visits, Kylo Ren is caught off guard during an attack. He's badly injured and plunges into a coma. Teetering between life and death in the dark, the only person that can reach him, and possibly save him, is a girl he wishes he could hate. Reylo.

Reylo fanfic based on ideas for Episode 9 The rebels could first flee to a safe place and start rebuilding themselves. Rey and Kylo / Ben continue to have a strong connection but try to suppress or ignore them as both believe the other is lost. Then Leia dies and the dead of his mother plunges Ben into a crisis. Hux takes advantage of this moment, takes the power and tries to kill Ben. This one can escape badly injured. Rey is also weakened by Ben's lethal injury and finds out through the research in the jedi's books that she and Ben are inextricably linked by the Forcebond originally created by Snoke....
