Like all of us, the recent passing of Sir Ian Holm struck me deeply, and I felt the need to acknowledge that in my own way, with a gentle nod to his portrayal of our dear Uncle Bilbo. A short one-shot taking place within my 'Lament for the Rohirrim' series, wherein we glimpse a few moments that just didn't quite make it into the main story and witness how the adventures of a Hobbit of the Shire touch the life of a girl from Rohan, if only briefly. For it is the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Simple acts of kindness and love. Farewell, dear Bilbo, dear Ian.
